PETS Q & A

What should i do with the pets i ran over with my car ?

Why do people leave pit bulls unattended with other dogs/pets?
Viewer discretion is advised. youtube.com watch?v Hbrq1kniapg& feature relatedAll pits have the potential for dog aggression and it seems pretty damn stupid to leave them alone with other pets. That's like leaving your pet tiger alone with your pet gazelle because " they grew up together." Well the potential for the tiger to eat the gazelle is still there no matter how they grew up.

How many of you would sit idolly by and allow family members to threaten your pets/animals ?

Are mini lops good pets? (rabbit)?
Are they good pets? What do I need to know in order to care for them? If not what breed do you suggest and are holland lops better? What is the difference between the two?

Do your pets know you by name, or some other trick of the senses?

Why don't people understand that pets are a PERMANENT responsibility?
I'm getting a kitten, and as I can't spend much, and also want to adopt a homeless kitten, I'm looking at animal shelters and classifieds like Craigslist. And seriously, Craigslist is just horrifying me. There are so many posts of people trying to get rid of their cats with the worst excuses " Oh, I got this kitten because it was just so cute in the store, but then I took it home and found out I had allergies." Or " Oh, they were having a deal on black cats at the animal shelter during Halloween, so I bought her, but now I figured out that I work 70 hours a week and don't have enough time to take care of her." Or " This kitten just isn't fitting into our family lifestyle the way we hoped she would." Seriously? These are all things that should have been thought about before the cat was purchased Who purchases a cat without knowing if they have allergies? And if you knew you worked 70 hours a week, why on earth would you get a cat that you knew you couldn't care for? And what did you expect, an angel of a kitten that would never put a toe out of line and would never forget to use its litterbox? Good Lord, how selfish Kittens aren't stuffed animals. You don't buy them on impulse because they're cute. You don't buy them on a trial basis, and then give them back if you decide you don't like them.Really, what is WRONG with people? I mean, ANYONE could adopt these cats some crazy sadist, or someone who's careless enough to let their cat get run over by a car... why would anyone buy a cat they didn't plan for?I mean, I'm adopting my cat and planning to have her for up to twenty years. I'm a young adult now, so I thoroughly expect to still be responsible for the kitten I adopt when I'm in my late thirties. Because that's the unspoken contract you sign when you take responsibility for an animal. You don't give away a baby because she spits up or uses up too many diapers an animal has a right to life and stability, too Don't you think it's horrible the way people treat pets as disposable?

Are pet owners required to pay health insurance for their pets?
Is the a health insurance company that only covers veterinary services maybe called " FidoCare" or " BluePaws BlueTails" or maybe " Good dog health" or do pet owners pay their veterinarians in full for medical necessity for their dog or cat?I was wondering this for a long time since people have health insurance to cover their medical costs is having a pet a bigger expense than some people think?

Moving to new apartments but they don't allow pets?
I'm moving to La Habra, California and the apartments do not allow pets. I haven't been diagnosed with depression by a doctor but I am in depression right now. I lost my home, parents are getting divorced, etc. Anyway, I called this place that does allow pets but they were out of my mom's budget. They told me however that if we were having trouble finding apartments because of the " no pet" rules that I can say its a companion dog and get a doctor's note and legally they'd have to let me keep it. I've been looking into it and there's alot of different people who say different things. Can someone please help me?P.S.I have looked for other aparments but they're all too expensive. Giving my dog away is out of the question she's old and would probably have a heart attack and die if I gave her away< 3

My mom dos not like pets but I want a rabbit what do I do?
I want some small pets like a cat or rabbit.

My apartment doesn't allow pets but I have anxiety can I get them to let me have my dog live with me?
I currently go to Penn State and my dog lives with my parents. She's a smaller dog only about 40 pounds. I have anxiety and often have panic attacks, and at home my dog was always there and helped calm me down. Now that she isn't living with me I have more panic attacks and my anxiety has increased quite a bit, especially because of the stress of school along with her not living with me. I want my dog to live with me but my apartment complex has a strict no pet policy. I read online that service dogs aren't considered to be " pets" because they are needed by the specific person. I'm not trying to be able to take her everywhere with me like in restaurants and stores, I just want to know if there is something I can do that would make me be able to have her live in my apartment. Switching apartments is not an option because I signed a lease that isn't up for another year. Any information you guys have would be so helpful. Thanks in advanced I realize she wouldn't be a service dog I specifically said I don't want or need a service dog to go with me everywhere.

Most pet insurances wont insure my breed. It isn't even a banned breed. Isn't that discrimination?
I have a 7 month old American Bulldog. I can only find 3 companies. 2 have very bad reviews, PurleyPets and Animal friends. Which leaves Petplan and they want nearly 50 a month.Dreamer... Where did I say I cannot support my dog?Dreamer... Where did I say I cannot support my dog?Whoa 38? My little Yorkie cross is only 7. Making me wonder if they just randomise the price

Has anyone had a hermit crab as a pet and found it difficult to raise? in other words, the hermit crab died?

Is there a pet bug like this?
I want an insect arachnid ect. that is generally hardy, active, and easy to care for. Is there a pet like this that is legal Canada , lives for more than a month couple months preferably , and isn't a cockroach? They are not something I am interested in, and the hissing roaches are not available here sadly . > > > > Thoughts??????Cc I have 5 snakes. But don't get me wrong, they are amazing pets. I just want something... different, and easy. Amongst my " pets" I would like at least one that doesn't guarantee illness or death due to a slight mishap. Some colubrids may do nicely. However, I'm looking for a creepy crawly. Not a reptile.
