MBD reptile? Anyone ever have one?
I took in 2 rescued Leopard geckos. One with bad MBD the other with begining signs... Both were very neglected and left to die. Didnt get fed right, didnt get right heating, no nothing right. I really wanna help them and from the little i have done they're looking ALOT better... But i wanna do everything possible. I got the medicine from the vet to help them, getting a UVB light 10.0 designed for reptiles with MBD , and dusting all food the one with small signs is the one that eats . I have to force feed the one thats really bad. She apparently was dropped by kids at some point and broke both her front legs and jaw. She walks akwardly and her jaw is a underbite. I know the MBD makes there legs and jaw bad it has definatly but had x rays done and the bones were broken. The vet told me flat out that theres a 15 85 chance she lived or died. The other ones a 40 60 chance of living to dieing. I dont wanna just give up on them like the pervious owner have I wanna do all i can so any tips?? here are pics of themBothersome what they decribed them as i805.photobucket.com albums yy334 Lady Hyena Chan bother.jpgAnd this is Troublesome again the pervious owner described them as i805.photobucket.com albums yy334 Lady Hyena Chan Trouble.jpgBoth are soaking in the pics as thye have OLD stuck on shed that im trying hard to get off but some looks like its just to bad...Bother's front right toes look like he's gonna loose them as there super sensitive and he wont let me even get a good look at. thoughts on how to get it off? Please only answer if you've delt with MBD in some way. I've most likely read all the links about it. I dont need a caresheet of signs or anything just want little tips others have done to get theres better.thanks 3 i just hope im doing the right stuff. I honestly thought she was better off dead...I feel terrible for even considering it now seeing how much fight she has in her but thanks its not helpful with her but helpful mentally Dthanks for that bit D I am super careful. If there not ready for the food or arent quaperating i walk away and leave for a bit then come back. I im SUPER careful about that. The vet mentioned that several times also to be careful force feeding since she could break her jaw . Im sceptiable about the light too..but if it'll help it'll help. I have a smaller one on them now and they seem fine with that a exo terra UVB light..idk if its any good tho read bad stuff on them and they seem fine. But if either are in distress about the light ill remove it. And no he didnt give me pain killers just the liquid stuff. He said it was apparent she wasnt in pain the one with bad MBD that the broken bones had already healed and there was no pain. THANKS tho that helped alot too DI considered putting Trouble down... But after watching her for a day and seeing her fighting spirt i knew it wasnt a option. She's responding well to the medicine. Plus giving her pedialite helps too. She's perky and a lot more active where as when I just got her she just layed there....you'd have thought she was dead but now she's moving from each side of the tank all are on her own D Thanks tho I know its hard having to put something down you loveD
