PETS Q & A

Where would you send a petition to stop pets from being brought into stores and hotels?

Question: Where would you send a petition to stop pets from being brought into stores and hotels?

(Posted by: Demon~Child on 2010-03-13 06:19:30)

I'm not talking about stopping the helping animals that are used for the handicapped from coming into stores i just want to stop the PETS (as in the animals kept by families) form being allowed into stores, hotels and restaurants. Seriously people do you have no consideration!? Are you willing to pay out money when your dog bites someone? And what about the people that are extremely allergic? Do you care about them? NO you don't you only give a damn about your dogs! And a little FYI animals are the filthiest creatures around! If you are for this idea please sign at http:/ / www.ipetitions.com/ petition/ stopthepets/ I'm the parent of the person who asked this question do you realize that dogs and cats lick their ass holes clean? So apparently since you like having your dogs eat of your plates and you probably also let them lick you your getting SHIT all in your mouth and on your face & hands! Hows that for being clean at least when my kids gave me a kiss I knew I wasn't getting SHIT in my mouth!

I have to agree, last week my hubby and I were sitting in semi fancy restaurant. And after about 10 minutes of idle chatter with him I noticed a woman sitting fairly close with her very large purse on her lap. A couple of minutes a mini pin stuck it's head and half of it's body out of the bag and placed it's feet on table. the woman proceeded to feed this dog from her plate. When our waitress came back I mentioned it to her and she said " oh that is Mr and Mrs.. So and So and they come here every week. And their puppy Binky. I was Livid. and ask to speak to manager. When he came I repeated what I had told the waitress and he said they were, very good long time customers and he would never insult them by saying something to them. We got up and left saying we don't allow our own dogs to eat at table with us so why should we go to restaurants where they cater to dogs. So yes I would sign anything.

What are you, the Pet Grinch? Why would you want to do that? To 'the parent': Are you really expecting anyone who's had kids to believe that they aren't entirely capable of being just as disgusting as a dog or a cat? Or, in fact, inventively nastier? Anyway, it doesn't matter. I reckon a petition like the one you two are on about wouldn't get off the ground in the US, we love our pets here.

Y would u want to stop that? as long as the animal is well behaved there isn't a problem

I am currently trying to get a petition to STOP people from bringing their children into restaurants and stores. I am SO tired of my meals being interrupted by kids running up and down the aisles and jumping up and down in the booth, and screaming. My dogs are better behaved then most peoples children. Perhaps we can send out petitions to the same place..........................

Hotels? WTF? I'm moving from Canada to Arizona and I'm driving. I have dogs - I need a place to stay. Why would people not allow pets?

I would never sign such an intolerant/ ignorant petition. People like you need to go back to your cave so society doesn't have to deal with intolerance/ antisocial behavior.

You need to talk to your local government. Petitions do not work as good as talking to your local government about the issue. I have no problem with anyone bringing their dog into a public place as long as it is well trained and not being a nuisance. I wish that children were as well trained as many dogs.

Oh that's just brilliant!!! And I'm trying to locate hotels who WILL accept pets - I would draw the line at taking them into food shops, but there's nothing wrong with well trained quiet dogs being allowed into restaurants (it happens all across Europe!) and ditto for hotels. We have now had our Whippet in two, Travelodge and Holiday Inn, and hats off to them for allowing this. She had her crate in the room, and was kept in it - and we took her out to the car when we wanted to go eat. Sighs. Blame the HUMAN, not the dog. Add - U Have 2 Be ----- your answer gets my vote, every time!!

Pets are allowed into shops and restaurants??? They sure as hell aren't here and i hope it stays that way... i don't need to be looking at someones hairball of a dog whilst eating. WHY would people need to take their PETS to these places...

Not sure where you should send it, but i can tell you where you should STICK IT

In many parts of the world they already have repressive legislation that does just what you want. I haven't seen it make any difference at all other than to drive pet people away and populate the now pet-free establishments with supercillious and pretentious pratts. Bring on the day when a pet friendly chain of hotels becomes the coolest place to be and turns away pet-hating people.

Instead of a petition, why not just don't go to the hotels and stores that allow them? There are a lot less hotels and stores that allow pets than don't allow them.

You won't get much support from pet owners on this one! Keep in mind that cat shows and dogs shows have to have hotels for exhibitors to spend a night or two - and the animals HAVE to be allowed into the hotels. Why would you want to ban this? IMO I wish more restaurants would allow well-behaved pets to hang around OUTSIDE a cafe' / restaurant while you are eatings outside with them. Petsmart and Petco allow your pet to shop with you - I think more stores could follow that idea.

UH2BKM. Where do I sign YOUR petition. I agree wholeheartedly. I am tired of my expensive meals ruined by screaming children when I eat out. Or dodging them in stores, or getting run over by kids racing shopping carts down the aisles. Give me a well behaved dog any day.

Um, okay. The trips I've had with my dog were among the best, and I'm going to have ignorant pet haters tell me I can't bring my dog to a hotel. Or a restaurant. Or store (unless it's something like a food store-and even then, it wouldn't be so bad if I brought her). Luckily enough for me, my area loves animals too much to kick em out of any place.

Posted by: Annamarie on 2010-03-13, 06:54:07

Why? It's not my fault you can't tolerate pets, who are mostly more well behaved than the children you see in public throwing raging tantrums and acting crazy. Make a petition on THAT. I would gladly sign it.

I can understand restaurants--but really? Stores and hotels? I think that you need to stay home instead of going to dog-friendly places. Dogs know when they aren't liked--watch your back!

Privately owned businesses can make whatever rule they want. If certain stores want to allows pets in that is their prerogative. Hotels huh? And where are people who go on vacation supposed to do with their dog because the few chains that allow pets no longer does? the only restaurants I know of that allow pets are those with OUTDOOR seating. What exactly is your problem? Anything outside of that people are simply breaking existing NO PETS rules and the management simply has not balls to enforce it. ETA: Oh yeah both you and your mother have a screw loose. "Additional Details "Seriously people do you have no consideration!? " Of course. I never take my pets anywhere they AREN'T allowed. If I take my pets to PET FRIENDLY places only what business of it is yours? And again there are already RULES again taking pets to non pet friendly places. a petition won't change anything if MANAGERS DON'T ENFORCE THE RULE. "Are you willing to pay out money when your dog bites someone? " Any responsible pet owner does and RESPONSIBLE pet owners don't take aggressive animals they can't control out in public like that. Notice I said RESPONSIBLE. "And what about the people that are extremely allergic? " Again responsible pet owners don't take their pets places they don't belong and there are plenty of outdoor seating restaurants and hotels that allow pets. Have allergies? Don't go to places that are pet friendly. "Do you care about them? " You don't either. You just hate animals. "And a little FYI animals are the filthiest creatures around! " There are plenty of humans that are plenty filthy and disgusting. 3 hours ago "I'm the parent of the person who asked this question do you realize that dogs and cats lick their *** holes clean? " Yeah and? animals clean themselves regularly. THAT IS NATURE. "So apparently since you like having your dogs eat of your plates and you probably also let them lick you your getting **** all in your mouth and on your face & hands! " How do we go from dogs in shops and hotels to dogs eating off plates? BTW yes I have let my dogs lick left over juice from my plates. SO WHAT? ITS GOING IN THE DAMN DISHWASHER AFTERWARDS. "Hows that for being clean at least when my kids gave me a kiss I knew I wasn't getting **** in my mouth! " No but you do have to worry about them passing on germs from other PEOPLE , which btw will do you more harm than a dog licking you on the face(btw we DO wash our faces afterwards you nut), since zooanotic transmission between humans and dogs is rare and just about ANYTHING one human can get can be passed to another. You have more to worry about from the money you handle, the keyboard you touched to right this crap, doorknobs, kitchen sponges etc than you do from DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS.
