PETS Q & A

Can you put a parrotlet in your pocket to bring it around with you?

Question: Can you put a parrotlet in your pocket to bring it around with you?

I want a sugar glider and one of the reasons i want one is because you can put them in a pocket or pouch and bring them around with you all day. Can you do the same with parrotlets? Are they portable? (not in the way like travel cage in a car portable. I mean take them with me to the store or outside kind of portable) Thanks in advance! :D (also sugar glider VS. Parrotlet and parrotlet VS. Lovebird. Which are better? I have the full questions to these. just look at my other questions please if you want to answer these (or you can answer here)) (also if you dont know yet parrotlets are tiny) Okay sorry if i sounded like someone who does that. I wasnt planning on buying it until i did more research on it. Im not that kind of person. Ive spent hours reserching on sugar gliders before i was planning to buy one But shirt pockets arent okay either? Ive heard they like it sorry i meant SHIRT pocket. are shirt pockets okay? I was wondering about all pockets but i guess not now. (also if you dont know yet parrotlets are tiny) Okay sorry if i sounded like someone who does that. No, you shouldn't ever try that! It can be very harmful to the birds, being stuffed inside a pocket all day. Also, you could forget you had it in a pocket, and do something that could harm the bird. The parrotlet could also fly off. Do you know anything about birds? Have you had them before? If you just want to buy this bird for that purpose, then you have NO idea what birds even are. Please, contact someone at your local pet store and ask all the questions you need answered. Or even talk to me!

Really you can't compare a sugar glider to any type of bird. Birds are completely different from dogs cats etc. First off the only way your carrying a glider around is if you have a tame one and even then its not going to want to stay in a pocket its going to want to explore which could be dangerous if your not in a safe area. A bird is not going to stay in a pocket either and its even harder to get a tame bird they have to build a trust with you. Sometimes they will never be tamed. You would need a bird with its wings clipped or it could fly off and even after clipping its wings they can glide which would be unsafe if your outside or even in a room that hasn't been made bird safe. You really need to do a lot more research before picking a pet. Birds are not like other pets and if you decide you don't want it later its unhealthy for a bird to be passed around from one owner to the next. It may cause it problems or even kill it. Remember when getting any type of animal its not about what you want it to do they do what they want and training is something that has to be done daily. Don't just run out and get something until you are sure that's what you want and that you can properly care for it. Don't expect any animal to do what you want you expect to much. They have feelings just like us.
